Alerts are raised when an event that you specified in a Monitor
or an Integration
Process occurs, or when a system event such as a critical error occurs.
Warning: Important! Make sure that the Insight Administrator is designated to receive email notification for Critical Alerts.
Alerts can be sent to individual Recipients or Recipient Groups. Recipients and Recipient Groups can also be arranged into Recipient
Maps to allow Monitors to generate Alerts that are assigned to variable
Recipients or Recipient Groups, based on the triggering criteria.
Recipients:
Represent individuals that are to be alerted of a system
or business event.
Represent individuals that are to be alerted of a system
or business event.
Note: Create a Recipient for each person that requires
alert notification.
Recipient Groups:
Represent a group of Recipients who should all be alerted
to the same system or business event under the same conditions. For example:
System Admin, Sales, or Support.
May contain any number of Recipients.
Note: Create a Recipient Group for each role in your company that requires
alert notification.
Recipient Maps:
Link domain values to Recipients or Recipient Groups
so that data containing those values can drive the selection of Alert
Recipients or Recipient Groups.
Enable Recipients to be directly mapped to unique values.
For example: User IDs, Contact Names, or Email Addresses
Enable any number of Recipients or Recipient Groups
to be linked to a single value. For example: Territories, Departments,
or Major Accounts.
Enable Recipients or Recipient Groups to be linked to
any number of values. For Example: A manager can be added to a number
of values so they are alerted when ever a subordinate is alerted.
The following default Recipient Groups are installed with the Console:
DB Admin
System Admin
Note: You cannot
delete the two default system Recipient Groups.
Alert recipients tasks
Alert Recipients — Opens the Alert Recipients view.
From the Recipients
tab, you can:
Add A New Recipient
Expand the Console site node.
Expand the Administration
node, and then click Alert Recipients.
The Alert Recipients window opens.
Go to the Recipients
area of the window, and then click Add.
From the General
tab, enter the Recipient Name
and an optional Full Name and
Description.
From the Notification
tab, configure your alert information, such as email address, pager information,
or network account. Specify the alert levels you wish the Recipient to
receive. Enter the Windows login name in the Net Send field.
Note: Network
popup messages require the Messenger service to be running on both the
sending and receiving computers. If the Messenger service is not running,
the popup messages do not work even if you have enabled the Net
Send option in Recipient Properties.
From the Groups
tab, select the Available Groups
you wish to associate with the Recipient. Click the right arrow button
to add the groups to the Member Of
column.
Click OK.
Edit An Existing Recipient
Expand the Console site node.
Expand the Administration
node, and then click Alert Recipients.
The Alert Recipients window opens.
Go to the Recipients area of the window,
select the Recipient, and then click Edit.
From the General
tab, you can change the optional Full
Name and Description.
You cannot change the Recipient name.
From the Notification
tab, edit your alert information, such as email address, pager information,
or network account. Specify the alert levels you wish the Recipient to
receive.
From the Groups
tab, select the Available Groups
you wish to associate with the Recipient. Click the right arrow button
to add the groups to the Member Of
column.
From the Groups
tab, select the group you wish to remove from the Member
of column. Click the left arrow button to remove the groups from
the Recipient.
Click OK.
Delete
A Recipient
Expand the Console site node.
Expand the
Administration node, and then click Alert
Recipients. The Alert Recipients
window opens.
Go to the Recipients
area of the window, and select the Recipient you wish to delete.
Click Delete.
Recipient Groups tasks
From the Recipient
Groups tab, you can:
Add A New Recipient Group
Expand the Console site node.
Expand the Administration
node, and then click Alert Recipients.
The Alert Recipients window opens.
Go to the Recipient
Groups area of the window, then click Add.
From the General
tab, enter the Group Name and,
optionally, a Description.
From the Recipients
tab, select the Recipients you wish to add to the Recipient Group. Click
the right arrow button to add the Recipients to the Members
column.
Click OK.
Edit
An Existing Recipient Group
Expand the Console site node.
Expand the Administration
node, and then click Alert Recipients.
The Alert Recipients window opens.
Go to the Recipient
Groups area of the window, select a group, and then click Edit.
From the General
tab, you can change the optional Description.
You cannot change the Group Name.
From the Recipients
tab, select the Recipients you wish to add to the Recipient Group. Click
the right arrow button to add the Recipients to the Members
column.
From the Recipients
tab, select the Recipients you wish to remove from the Recipient Group.
Click the left arrow button to remove the Recipients from the Recipient
Group.
The Mappings
tab shows the list of recipient maps this group is part of.
Click OK.
Delete
A Recipient Group
Expand the Console site node.
Expand the Administration
node, and then click AlertRecipients. The Alert
Recipients window opens.
Click the Recipient
Groups tab, and select the Recipient Group you wish to delete.
Click Delete.
Recipient Maps tasks
From the Recipient
Maps tab,you can:
Add A New Recipient Map
Expand the Console site node.
Expand the Administration
node, and then click Alert Recipients.
The Alert Recipients window opens.
Click the Recipient
Maps tab , and click the Add
button near the top of the window. The Add
Recipient Map dialog box appears.
Enter theMap name and, optionally,
a Description.
Click OK
after all of your values have been added.
Edit An Existing Recipient Map
Expand the Console site node.
Expand the Administration
node, and then click Alert Recipients.
The Alert Recipients window opens.
Go to the Recipient
Maps area of the window, select a map, and then click Edit.
From the Recipient
Map Properties dialog box, you can change the optional Description.
You cannot change the Map Name.
Delete A Recipient Map
Expand the Console site node.
Expand the Administration
node, and then click Alert Recipients.
The Alert Recipients window opens.
Click the Recipient
Maps tab, and select the Recipient Map you wish to delete.
Click Delete.
Add
A New Value To The Recipient Map
Open the Recipient
Map tab.
From the drop-down list of recipient
maps at the top of the tab, select the recipient map you want to add to.
Click Add
at the bottom of the tab. The Add Map
Value dialog box appears.
In Value
Name, enter the value that from the Field
from query to provide value to appear in the monitor.
Optionally, enter a Description.
Select either Recipients
or Groups.
From the list in Available
recipients, select a recipient or group, then click the right arrow
button.
Click OK.
Edit
An Existing Recipient Map Value
Open the Recipient
Map tab.
From the drop-down list of recipient
maps at the top of the tab, select the recipient map you want to edit.
From the list of values, select
the value you want to edit.
Click Edit
at the bottom of the tab.
You cannot change the Value name; however can make changes
to the Description and Selected
recipients.
Delete
A Value From The Recipient Map
Open the Recipient
Map tab.
From the drop-down list of recipient
maps at the top of the tab, select the recipient map you want to change.
From the list of values, select
the value you want to delete.
