File Management Security

File Management security controls access to your local file system for all users and processes. Exposing folders to the Console enables you to perform typical directory browsing as well as moving, renaming, and deleting files and folders.

Note: When you return to the Console after browsing, only the file name (not the full Collaboration path) displays in the box. This is expected behavior and no action is necessary.

To Configure File Management Security

1. Expand the Console node, then expand the Console site node.
2. Expand the Administration node, and then click Security. The Security Settings window opens.
3. From the File Management tab, select either Provide access to ALL folders on this server or Provide access to SELECTED folders on this server.
   • Provide access to ALL folders on this server — This exposes all folders on the server.
   • Provide access to SELECTED folders on this server — This exposes only the specific folders on the directory that you select and move to the Console Shared Folders area.

     Select the folders you wish to share and then click the right arrow icon to move the selected folders to the Console Shared Folders column.

     At a minimum, you should allow access to the following folders:

     • Collaboration root
     • Event file location(s) for any file Integration Process (IP)
     • Scribe samples
     • Scribe trace file
     • Application path (the location of pre/post programs used in IPs)

       Note: The installation sets the Application path to \Program Files\Scribe\Utilities. To change the Application path, expand the Integration Servers node, right-click on your server, and then click Properties.

     • Any other folders that you wish to share across Collaborations

       Note: When configuring File Management security, always select UNC if both a UNC and physical path appear in the All Folders dialog box.
       
       For example, if the All Folders dialog box displays C:\Temp and \\[computer-name]\C\Temp, select \\[computer-name]\C\Temp as the folder path.

4. Do one of the following:
   • Click Save before continuing to another tab or exiting.
   • Click Cancel to discard any File Management Security changes.
   • Click Refresh to refresh the Security Settings window.
