You can update the source shadow or base table, another source table, and the source result set.
Source shadow or base table
Both tables enable you to select a source table to update.
The name of the key field in the source record set
and the field in the cross reference table used to store the
key must be identical. You can only select a single field
name from the Key field(s) drop-down in the Source Mapping pane. Insight
presumes there is a field of the same name in the cross-reference
table.
Insight expects the field in the
cross-reference table containing the source key is prepopulated.
If the key does not exist in the cross-reference
table, the update occurs, but there is no data to update, and
Insight does not log an error.
Insert into Other source table — If the key field is not found in the source table, the Insert into Other
source table operation inserts the key field.
The Update Source result set option is
available only when the source is a table or updatable view for which
a primary key is available. A result set generated by a SQL Query cannot
be updated by the Cross Reference feature.
