The Connections page lists the connection information, based on your local environment, for all components you have selected to be in the package. You can accept or alias each connection.
Accepting the connection retains the connection information in the package. You would do this if you anticipate importing the package to the same environment.
Aliasing the connection replaces the name of the connection with the text you enter and clears the user ID and password. You can use the alias to give instructions about what type of connection it is to the user importing the package. For example, you could type an alias for a connection such as, "Enter the SQL administrator user name and password."
To alias a connection
If you are creating a package that will be installed on another system with different user names and passwords, you can create an alias for the connection to give the person doing the import some information about what type of connection it is. For example, you could add an alias that says, "Enter the admin login to the accounting system.” When you alias a connection, it automatically clears the user ID and password.
XML connections are automatically checked to "Hide on Import" because the connection information would typically not change from one system to another. Since there is no user name or password involved with an XML connection, the parameters left are the sample file name, the schema name, and how repeating nodes are configured. Typically, these do not change from one system to another. If you expect to configure the XML connection with a different sample file name or schema file, you might want to clear Hide on Import.
