Before You Begin — Planning Tips

Workbench walks you through the process of creating Data Translation Specification (DTS) files, which connect source and target data. DTS files allow you to migrate data from a single source to multiple targets, use functions to manipulate data, link to other DTS files in a logical order, and perform many other tasks to cleanly migrate and integrate your data.

Before you begin creating DTS files, TIBCO suggests that you plan your data migration or integration to ensure that the DTS files you create perform the tasks you expect.

Planning steps include:

  1. Consider your source and target configurations.
  2. Simplify the data load.
  3. Plan the process thoroughly.
  4. Resolve connectivity issues.

When you know what you need your DTS files to do, it is easier to create the DTS files.
