Configuring Text File As Target Connection

  1. Select More > Connections from the menu.
  2. From the Connections page select Add to open the Add a New Connection dialog.
  3. Select the Connector from the drop-down list in the Connection Type field, and then enter the following information for this Connection:
    • Name — This can be any meaningful name, up to 25 characters.
    • Alias — An alias for this Connection name. The alias is generated from the Connection name, and can be up to 25 characters. The Connection alias can include letters, numbers, and underscores. Spaces and special characters are not accepted. You can change the alias. For more information, see Connection Alias.
  4. On the Location tab in the File Location drop-down, select a Location. The associated Location Properties fields are displayed. See Target Text Connection — Location Tab for details on the properties required for each type of File Location.
  5. Select the Entities tab.
  6. Use the Addbutton to add a user specified Entity Name for each Entity accessed by this Connection. Configure the properties in the right pane, including Entity Name, for each Entity you add on the left pane. Each Entity is associated with a separate text file. See Target Text Connection — Entities Tab for additional information.
  7. Select the Fields tab. The list of Entity Names displays in the left pane. Fields contained within the selected Entity display in the right pane of the tab.
  8. Use the Fields tab to add fields, modify field names, data type, or field width of any field within the selected Entity. This is optional and may not be necessary. See Target Text Connection — Fields Tab.
  9. To view fields for a different Entity, select a new Entity from the list in the left pane.
  10. To reverse changes made to fields, select Refresh Schema from the Gear menu for the associated Entity.
  11. Select Test to ensure that the Agent can connect to your file. Be sure to test the Connection against all Agents that use this Connection. See Testing Connections.
  12. Select OK/Save to save the Connection.
