Text Wizard

The Text Wizard enables you to easily define text file layout for ANSI text data for use with the Scribe/DataDirect text file driver. The output of the wizard is a properly defined QETXT.INI file. The result of this is that the user defines a text file as a table. See Text Wizard Step 3 for more information.

Note: The Text Wizard can only accept ANSI data. To create a text connection with Unicode data, use the Unicode Text Adapter. See Connecting to a Text Source for more information about determining which text connector to use.

The Text Wizard requires the Scribe/DataDirect driver. 

To use the Text Wizard

1. Select View > Connections. The Connection Manager appears.
2. Click New. The Add a Connection dialog box appears.
3. From the Data Sources tree, expand Text Files under Adapters.
4. Double-click Add/Modify Text Data Source. The Select Data Source dialog box appears.
5. Select a data source from the list and do one of the following:
   • Click Add to begin the Wizard to define data source.
   • Click Modify to modify the selected data source.
   • Click Delete to delete the selected data source from the list.

   Note: Note: Only data sources that are configured using the Scribe/DataDirect driver display.
