Showing Data Objects

Use the Data Objects Explorer in the Formula Editor to:

To display data objects

  1. Click Show Data Objects from the Edit Formula dialog box. The Data Objects Explorer displays
  2. Click data objects to browse the Data Object tree.

Note: If a connection is used as both a source and a target, the source connection displays in the Data Objects explorer as MyConnection:SOURCE. In this case, Insight creates separate connections for the source and target. Insight acts on the target connection by default. Labeling the source allows you to ensure your function is acting against the expected data.

To insert a data object directly into the Formula Editor

  1. Highlight a data object in the Data Object tree.
  2. Click Insert in Formula. The selected data object is copied to the Edit Formula editing pane.

    Note: Insert in Formula buttons are only enabled when you select a connection name, data object, or field name.

To view property details about a data object

  1. Highlight a data object in the Data Object tree and click Properties. The Properties window for the data object displays

    Note: Properties buttons are only enabled if you select a valid data object or field name.

  2. Click Close to close the Properties window.

    Note: The Data Objects Explorer remains open until you close it or close the Edit Formula dialog box.
