Failed Connections Caused By Invalid Data Source Names

  1. Click OK to close the Database Error window. The Connect To dialog box appears. The information displayed in the Failed Connection Info area includes the data source name recorded in the original DTS file.
  2. In the Data Sources tree control, select a data source that functionally corresponds to the original.

If a suitable data source is not listed, select Add/Modify ODBC Data Source to add a new data source that corresponds to the one saved in the DTS file.

Note: The data source you select or add should functionally resemble the original, otherwise the job will not run successfully. Consult your System Administrator, if necessary, for assistance in choosing an appropriate data source.

  3. After selecting a new data source, click OK to close the Connect To dialog box. You are prompted with a message box that asks if you want to make the same connection information changes in other DTS files.

If prompted, enter the login parameters for the database.

  4. Do one of the following:

Note: You may receive additional Database Error messages because of a similar problem with the DTS file's other data source (Source or Target), or because of invalid login parameters.

Repeat the troubleshooting process as needed, until all the causes of connection failures are resolved.
