Providing Access To Local Text Files

For the TIBCO Scribe® Online Text File Connectors, TIBCO Scribe® Online limits access for local files to files that reside within directories or folders that you specify. To use a Text File as Source or Text File as Target Connection with files that reside on the computer where the TIBCO Scribe® Online On-Premise Agent is installed, you must include the locations of directories containing any text files in the FolderAccess.txt file for each of the two Connectors.

The FolderAccess.txt file controls access to the files that can be opened by TIBCO Scribe® Online for processing and the Move to folder for post-processing.

Edit The FolderAccess.txt File

  1. Navigate to the FolderAccess.txt file in the ..\Scribe Software\TIBCO Scribe® Online Agent\Connectors\Scribe.Connector.Text.Source\ or ..\Scribe Software\TIBCO Scribe® Online Agent\Connectors\Scribe.Connector.Text.Target\ folder on the computer where the TIBCO Scribe® Online On-Premise Agent is installed.

Note: You must configure a separate FolderAccess.txt file for the Source and Target Text File Connectors. They cannot share the same file.

  2. Open the FolderAccess.txt file in a text editor, such as Notepad.
  3. Add a line in the FolderAccess.txt file for each directory path that contains text files. Directory paths can be absolute, relative to the folder where the Agent is installed, or a network directory. List each folder on its own line, for example:

    C:\folder2
    \\myserver\archive
    .\dataexchange

Note: Microsoft does not support mapped drive names with Windows services. However, UNC path names are supported. For more information, see Services and Redirected Drives (Microsoft MSDN Library)

  4. Save and close the file before you configure any text files. If you have not added the text folder locations, TIBCO Scribe® Online generates errors when you try to preview data or test Text Connections.

Note: The Text Connector can access all sub-directories under any listed directories.
