Creating A DTS Backup File

After you convert the connections in the current DTS and similar connections in other legacy DTS files, you are prompted to create a backup of the original version of each modified DTS file. The backup process saves the DTS and the connections it contains in the version of Insight in which it was last saved. Backup files are saved in the same folder as the upgraded DTS. After you create a backup of the all upgraded DTS files, the conversion process is complete.

Note:

Backup files are only created when you upgrade a DTS.

Backup files have a .bak extension. For example, a backup of the file, MyDts.dts, is named MyDts.dts.bak.

Only one backup file is created for each version of a DTS. For example, as part of upgrading DTS A to Insight 7.9.0, if you converted one connection in DTS B, as part of that conversion process, you create a backup of DTS B in the earlier version of Insight. When you open DTS C to upgrade that DTS file to Insight 7.9.0, a second connection in DTS B is also upgraded. Because a backup copy of DTS B in the earlier Insight version exists, a second backup is not made.

If you direct Insight to convert a connection in another DTS, the Create Backup File message appears.

When the Create Backup File message appears, click one of the following:

To use the same response each time Insight prompts you to create a backup file, select the Apply this setting to all future DTS upgrades check box.
