Defining A Converted Connection Type

When you convert a connection in the current DTS by either creating a new connection or using an existing connection, Insight establishes a connection to the data source. If Insight cannot identify the type of data source or establish a connection, after all the connections in the current DTS have been upgraded, the Connection Manager displays the problem connection in red. You must reconfigure any connection displayed in red before you can use the upgraded DTS.

To reconfigure a converted connection:

  1. If the Connection Manager is not open in the Workbench, click View > Connections. The Connection Manager appears.

Any connection that must be redefined appears in red text.

  2. Select a red connection and click Edit. The Connection Settings dialog box appears.

The Global Connection Settings tab enables you to define the connection and modify connection parameters that are written to the Scribe Internal Database.

  3. Click Connect. The Connection Information dialog box appears.
  4. Select the data source to use for the connection and click OK.
  5. If any connection information is required for the data source, a dialog box appears. Enter the required information and click OK. You return to the Connection Settings dialog box.
  6. Click Cancel. You return to the Connection Manager.
  7. Click Close.

After the connection types in the local DTS are defined, Insight prompts you to convert any matching connections found in other DTS files in the current folder and subfolders. Insight converts individual connections matching the connections converted in the current DTS, based on your response to each prompt.
