Evaluating A Job

Before you deploy a DTS file, you want to make sure that it runs as expected.

While the job is running

The Run Status dialog box displays statistics for the operations being performed. This dialog box displays the elapsed time, the number of source rows processed, and the percentage of job complete.

Note: You can disable Percent Complete and improve processing efficiency by clearing the checkbox on the Performance tab.

The dialog box also displays the total of successful, failed or skipped operations.

When the job is finished

The Run Complete dialog box displays the:

Execute time
Number of source rows processed
Total operations that were successful, failed, and skipped

This dialog box remains visible until you click Close. You can view results of a finished job in the Job Summary Report.

During the testing phase, be sure to:

Check for failed rows — If there are failed rows, click Transaction Errors. The Transaction Error Report appears.
Investigate any failed rows, using rejected row logging if necessary, and determine where the problem occurs:
- There may be problems in the source data that you can fix with a formula on a data link.
- You might need to provide a default value for a target field that cannot be null or blank.
- There may be design issues with your DTS file.
Examine the target application to make sure the data looks right in the target.

Note: Be sure to reconcile all types of failed rows before deploying to prevent problems in your production system.

Performance information

When the job has completed, click Performance Info to view the Performance Info Report.
