Step 6 — Set the Alert Details

The final step in configuring a Monitor is to define the alert to generate, including options for message delivery:

Click Step 6 — Alerting. The Alerting page opens.
In the Alert Type area, select the type of alert:
- Critical
- Error
- Warning
- Information
This selection relates back to the Notification Groups. When you add a member (Operator) to a Notification Group, you individually the level of alerts that member receives.
For example, if the Notification Group you use for this alert has two Operators as members, but only one member is configured to receive Critical alerts, if you select the Critical option, only that member of the Notification Group receives the alert.
In Alert description, enter a brief, meaningful description for this alert.
In Alert number, specify a numeric value to use for this alert.
In Alert message, enter a meaningful message describing the alert.
In the Alert Message Options area, select the informational items to include in the alert:
- Query alerts
  - Include results — Include the Monitor results in the body of alert message.
  - Include row count/value — Include the number of rows or the Field value from the results of the Monitor in the body of the email, based on the selections you made in the Alert Criteria step.
  - Attach results as XML — Include the results of the Monitor to the alert message in XML format.
- Queue alerts
  - Include arrival time — Include the time that the alert was triggered.
  - Include message count — Include the number of messages in the queue when the alert was triggered.
  - Attach XML message — Include the XML message as an attachment to the alert.
Click Finish.
