Step 5 — Alerting Options

The final step in creating an IP (IP) is to set Alerting Options, which activate notification or make it unavailable when processing errors occur, and to configure the type of notification and related details.

Specify alerting options

  1. If you are going to create a Monitor to oversee the execution of this IP and do not want any alerts generated, select the Never generate alerts option.
  2. If the default System Monitors are going to oversee this IP execution, select the Allow Monitors to generate Alerts for this IP check box.

If you select this check box and create a separate Monitor for this IP, two entries appear in the Alert Log.

  3. If you want the IP to generate alerts:
    1. Select the Generate Alerts on option and select which executions are to generate the alerts:
      • Executions with Errors
      • Each Execution
      • Executions with Fatal Errors
    2. Select from the Notify list the group to receive the execution alerts. Fatal Errors must go to the System Admin group.
    3. Specify in Alert Number the alert number to associate with this type of execution alert. This value appears in the Alert Details section of the Alert Log.
    4. Type in Alert Description a brief description of this error, such as Rejected row(s) found. This description appears in the Alert Details section of the Alert Log.
    5. Type in Alert Message the alert message that appears. This message appears in the Alert Details section of the Alert Log.

If you create a separate Monitor for this IP, two entries appear in the Alert Log.

  4. Click Finish to save the IP configuration.
