Moving TIBCO Scribe® Insight

If you need to move your entire TIBCO Scribe® Insight installation, TIBCO recommends that you use the Insight Import-Export utility.

Note:
  • The Import-Export utility is available for Insight version 6.1 and later. If you are using an earlier version, contact TIBCO Support for help. TIBCO also recommends that you upgrade your existing Insight server to a newer version.
  • To run the Import-Export utility, you must have SQL access to the SCRIBEINTERNAL database.
  • When you export, as part of a package, a DTS file whose connection is aliased, the Wizard sets the Prompt for reconnect option.
  • If you set the connection for the DTS during the import process, the Prompt for Reconnect option is cleared.

To Move TIBCO Scribe® Insight

  1. Back up all of your data.
  2. Install TIBCO Scribe® Insight and your adapters on the new server and register online for full use.
  3. On the new server, add a user to the Scribe Console Users Group.
  4. Configure the Console.
  5. From the Console use the Import-Export Wizard:
    1. From the old server, choose all components from the Export: Choose Components page.
    2. From the Console page of the old server, click Import-Export Wizard and export the package to a new, empty, directory.
    3. From the new server, select and import the package to a new server.
    4. Follow the remaining directions in How to Import a Package.
  6. After you have imported the entire package to the new server:
    1. Recreate any ODBC connections.
    2. Reconnect any publishers.
    3. Test your new Insight installation before moving to a production environment.

Note: Before selecting the items you want to import, make sure they were operational and working on the source system.

System variables such as LastRunDateTime are stored in the scribe.executionlog table of the Scribe Internal database.
